Amanda lights our small scented candles that line the mantle as the the Christmas tree lights brighten up the rest of the room. Maggie is preparing hot water for tea and hot chocolate as the rest of us gather warm blankets.
As Jess begins to read aloud “the Simple Path”, the story of Mother Teresa, I sit there with the warm hot chocolate slowly soothing my throat. This moment where we have all gathered to just read and create a moment filled with love and family. It’s not about the book, it was close to midnight so we were all dozing in and out of sleep while we shared blankets and shared our love for community.
After about ten pages of taking turns reading we all just sat there sometimes in silence and sometimes laughing at meaningless jokes while the candle lights flickered. The night continued on like this for awhile, we had no real agenda just time to be in Gods presence with each other.
Acts 2:46
“They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,
praising God”.
