The last couple of days I have had the privilage to be apart of the Short Term Missions Departments Staff Conference. I have been learning so much these last couple of days about the department I intern with but today was so far the funniest day I have had in a long time. After many hours of praying, discussing, listening, and debating, I was nodding with exhaustion at about 5:30 pm, then the other side of my coworkers came out in an abundance.

Myself and two other women cleaned and organized for hours to make things just right for our coworkers traveling from other states. We mopped about six times, rearranged over 10 large couches, and even put up a Christmas tree for our upcoming Christmas party.

At 6:30pm we hit free time and the men decided they wanted to play soccer. But with the recent snow flurries and wet Georgia red clay playing outside was not an option. So the men took it upon themselves to move the couches against the wall and store my beautiful Christmas tree in a small dark room. Now I am not quite sure what Seth Barnes (Founder of AIM) would think about grown men playing soccer on the newly finished training room, but if I know Seth he will simply rejoice in the fellowship and the awesome lesson I learned from the indoor soccer, OR SO I HOPE.

So as I watched the STM staff play a fierce match of soccer while the song “Tequila” played in the background, and the other men sang aloud and sprayed Old Spice on one other (don’t ask, you had to be there to understand it). I couldn’t help but laugh and enjoy the lighthearted fun attitudes of people who some have been in ministry for over 10 years.

I admit that at first I was a little upset that they moved everything and didn’t take appreciation for our hardwork. As I say to myself lighten up Rosie I understood that they honored our and their hardwork with their presence and a crazy game of indoor soccer. After they finished the game we all finished the night with smores and bonfire laughs. I really just wanted to share this story and really just let you all know that even tough I am putting in 12 hour days and am really tired, I Love what I do and most importantly I wish I would have joined the game of Staff Conference After Dark.

you’re right, Rosie – I love it when the staff have fun. anything that makes us more of a family is generally going to get my green light.

thanks for all your hard work. you are a wonderful addition to the family.

  2. Hey Rosee,

I am happy with your story because you put aside your emotional feelings to share in the fun. That’s what life is meant to be.It doesn’t give us what we want, except we place a demand. I also apprecial the story of the lovely shoes.

    Cheers !

  3. We did do a lot of work on this room, but it sure looks great! Mopping the floor five times and moving the couches (16) like 3 times each was definitely worth it. I am so thankful for your helpful hand while setting/ cleaning up during meals, as well as, holding the flash light for me as I look for marshmallow sticks in the woods last night!

    Love you girl! 😀
